Texas DPA resources

Texas down payment assistance programs for eligible homebuyers.

Use this page as the Texas-focused DPA hub. It should educate buyers, support Realtor conversations, and route serious applicants into a pre-approval or consultation.

What is down payment assistance?

Down payment assistance can help eligible buyers reduce the upfront cash needed to purchase a home. Depending on the program, assistance may be structured as a grant, forgivable second lien, deferred-payment second lien, repayable second lien, or other approved assistance structure.

Important: DPA is not one-size-fits-all. Program availability can depend on income, household size, property location, purchase price, occupancy, loan type, credit profile, and whether funds are still available.

Who Texas DPA may help

Realtor clients

DPA gives agents another way to help qualified buyers who have income but limited funds to close.

FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional buyers

Some assistance programs can be paired with major loan types when borrower and property guidelines are met.

Local-market buyers

Some programs are statewide, while others are city, county, employer, or community-specific.
